Please join the Department of Energy, University of Colorado, CU Cleantech and the Deming Center for Entrepreneurship for an afternoon of networking and a celebration for the inaugural DOE Student Business Plan Competition Finals where we will be announcing the $100K winner.   

The CU Cleantech New Venture Challenge is a student-focused $100,000 business plan competition for the Western Midwest Region which includes: Colorado, Utah, Wyoming, Montana, North and South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, and Iowa. The competition is part of the Department of Energy's (DOE)National Clean Energy Business Plan Competition focused on increasing clean energy businesses coming out of universities and national labs as well as creating a new generation of entrepreneurs to serve the nation's energy mission.

The finals event is the culmination of the competition, and is a public event open to the competing teams, students, government sponsors, plus the business and investor community. The six finalist teams will present their business plans to the judges throughout the morning and afternoon, and then the winners will be announced at the public event.

 Tentative Public Agenda:

  • 3:30 - Doors open for public event
  • 4:30 - Keynote speakers (TJ Deora, Governor’s Energy Office;  TBCs:  High Level DOE Official, University of Colorado Administrator;)
  • 5:00 - Announcement of the winners and awards presentation
  • 6:30 - End of event
