BPI Residential Building Envelope Whole House Air Leakage Control Installer Certification


This national certification is the first BPI standard for the air sealing and insulation industry within efficiency and weatherization. This certification is designed for entry level efficiency and weatherization contractors to develop their skills to properly air seal and insulate residential homes or small commercial buildings. How to assess problems and fix them using the correct materials is the focus of the certification. Students don’t need to have their Building Analyst Certification to attend this program but it will be an advantage for those that do.


Students will learn:
- Building science principles centered around the House as a System
- Understanding of products and procedures to effectively seal key thermal bypasses
- Understanding of products and procedures to effectively insulate various areas of the home
- Basic techniques for securing and sealing ductwork
- How to use a blower door to direct insulation and air sealing measures to maximize air leakage reduction
- Use of correct personal protection equipment and safety protocols

Class Length:
3 days plus 1 day for testing
