12:00pm Tour Ends
Join us at IKEA to learn how the company cost effectively manages energy use in their 415,000 square-foot store in Centennial. With support of many EEBC members, the facilities manager integrated on-site power production with a solar photovoltaic system along with a geothermal heating system, cutting edge controls and energy monitoring solutions.
Additional sustainability initiatives in US stores include: recycling waste material (paper, wood, plastic, etc.); incorporating environmental measures into the construction of buildings in terms of energy-efficient HVAC and lighting systems, recycled construction materials, skylights in warehouse areas, and water conserving restrooms; and operationally, phasing out the sale of incandescent light bulbs and facilitating recycling of customers’ compact fluorescent bulbs.
